EllisFam Interviews

I have asked for the EllisFam to do a small 8 question interview so that we may get to know one another and how The Jason Ellis Show has changed or impacted our lives. These are their reply’s, unedited and all in their own words. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do, and thank you to everyone who participated. Without you all this wouldn’t be possible.

MICHAEL SORIA (@Butterballs_EM6)

  1. Where do you live? Yo yo yo check it. Dis be the 1 the only Mike Soria AKA BUTTERBALLS. Coming to you live from Cerritos California where I was raised.
  2. What is your occupation? I’m a self employed professional driver,a Transporter if you will. Like Jason Statham but I have hair and drive a van.
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I aint fakin I love clay aikin and teddy bears… oh wait I mean I skateboard and used to play drums in a punk band. I’m more mellow these days, until Ellismania comes around. Then I party and punch someone in De’face.
  4. How long have you listened to TJES? I’ve been listening to TJES since he was on tuesdays and thursdays I think. Pretty much since he got his own show or dj set I guess. I just remember catching the show on once in a while.
  5. How did you discover TJES? I followed Howard Stern over to satellite radio and everyday when I was done listening to his show I’d switch to Faction. Once in a while I’d hear this dude with an accent talking about chicks and skateboarding and just being funny saying whatever.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? Taking phone calls from idiots telling him to say “That’s not a knife”. I fuckn loved it! Once I figured out TJES had a regular schedule I found myself getting pissed every time i forget to tune in. So I set an alarm. For me TJES is the best show to listen to. It really helps me get through the workday. I liked Howard a lot but Ellis is more my style. I’m 31 yrs old. Still consider myself a Howard fan but hardly listen anymore.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? I feel TJES has changed the way I look at life. In a good way. Until I heard Jason telling his life experiences, I wasn’t really thinking about what I was doing. Just living day to day boring as shit. “YOU GOTTA LIVE YOUR LIFE! DO AS MUCH AS YOU CAN BEFORE YOU DIE CUZ YOU AINT GETTIN IT BACK AFTER ITS GONE.” Ellis is like all my best friends in one. He was a Pro Skateboarder, I dreamed of being a Pro Skateboarder. He partied, I partied. That’s why I liked the show, because I could relate to him.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? I was the only volunteer that showed up to be in the DeCockathon (the dick olympics) on a Friday morning show and competed against the man himself. I lost the competition but gained some respect from the listeners and Ellis. Later that year I entered the 1st ever Musical Chairs Fight at Ellis Mania 6. I put on a show earning the name Butterballs and won the title. Since then I’ve been on the show a few times doing stupid funny shit like Disco Balls and Mexican Shock Collar Arm Wrestling with @FonzoBlunt even though I’m not Mexican. I’m Peruvian. There was one time on the show that I was grossed out and kinda felt violated. It was when Ellis lost a game and had to tongue dart my belly. I thought it was funny until I felt his tongue in my belly. I almost puked! Anyway now I’m in a movie with Ellis, Mayhem, Dingo and other awesome people.
I love the show and hope it never gets old because wtf else am I supposed to listen to. TJES IS SECOND TO NONE! PEACE OUT! DON’T DIE!

Shoutout to @bitPimps and @AZ_RedDragon
Thanks to everyone who supports the show! You guys are Awesome!

  4. How long have you listened to TJES? I have followed Jason from is hearly years in skateboarding, I use to work in a few differant skate shops. Actually listening on a daily basis has to be at least going on 4-5 years now.
  5. How did you discover TJES? Cruzin through XM and heard this crazy old skateboarder had a show…
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? You just never know what is going to happen next!
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? The show has done allot for my self esteem and taught me allot about being a “man” (like a stand up kinda guy)
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? I can believe how many times I made plans to just GO to an Ellismania, and now that I finally am going, I actually get to fight! All I can say is this fight is going out to my daughter, and the fans! I’m in there swingin for all of you!

  5. How did you discover TJES? Accident: channel surfing, heard “Straight outta Compton”, & hung around afterwards. Rawdog was being chastised, (again) & I’ve been here since.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? it’s my church. Regardless of how I feel, or what I’m going through, the show ALWAYS makes my day better.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? My mental & physical fitness is way better: I’ve gone from 200 lbs( beer gut) to 175(firm). I’ve been fortunate enough to form A bond with ALOT of really great people who accept me for who I am.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? Many good times with all of you.

  4. How long have you listened to TJES? About 3 years.
  5. How did you discover TJES? My long time friend and former roommate, Sexual Bowling Ball (STD Emily) fought in EM4 and had me as her corner. About a year after that, I started listening to the show on a regular basis.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? The sheer obscenity of the show. We’re all thinking it, they just say it out loud and make it funny as hell.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? Love me some EllisFam! If it weren’t for the show, I wouldn’t have the privilege of knowing all you mother fuckers.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? July 14. Humungous Bitch Fight. Complete and total carnage.

Alex Reed (@shit_toboggan)

  1. Where do you live? Oakland, California.
  2. What is your occupation? Service adviser at Dana Meyer Auto Care in Albany, CA.
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. I am pretty much your average working stiff. I like tattoos, skating, loud fast angry music, slow sweet romantic music, bit of a comic collector, cars, all around good guy I suppose. Never really sure what to write when someone says “Tell me about yourself” unless I’m filling out a job application. I spend most of my time working, most recently been training three days a week for EllisMania 8. On my off time I’m also a semi-regular volunteer at 924 Gilman st, the semi-legendary punk rock club out here in the bay area.
  4. How long have you listened to TJES? I’ve been  listening to the Ellis show for about 4 1/2 years.
  5. How did you discover TJES? I discovered the show kind of by accident. I had Sirius for over a year and was starting to lose interest in Howard Stern. I would listen to music and flip through channels all day. I always thought it was weird that the action sports channel had some British guy doing an afternoon talk show, and never really stopped to hear it through, but one day I landed on Faction during a “Dude, is it gay?” segment and couldn’t stop laughing. I listened to the rest of the show and loved every second of it. Been hooked ever since.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? It’s funny, definitely makes the work day go by faster. It can be anything from motivational to hilarious to just plain stupid to absolutely beautiful. The fans are really a community, not just a bunch of fans. Jason does a great job weeding out the bullshit we all can get stuck in. It’s a great way to spend four hours of the day and always puts a smile on my face somehow.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? It’s been a good way to keep sane on stressful days. Joining in on all the “World’s Greatest” and other shit the show asks for participation on, all the EllisMania’s have been an amazing time. It does light a fire under my ass to get out and do more with myself. I was always a pretty lazy person, now I exercise and eat better and really do shit with my time. Life’s too short, y’know?
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? CumTard is gonna get fucked up real bad July 14th. RED DRAGONS!!!

Dutch 中 (@Dutch_RDS)

  1. Where do you live? Highlands Ranch, CO
  2. What is your occupation? Director of Product Management and Sales Gateway Services Group
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. 32 actually 33 on July 6. Just celebrated 10 years of marriage. I have a 4 year old son named Jack. He was born premature at 29 weeks he was 2 lbs 11 oz and spent 42 days in the NICU. He is my world and couldn’t imagine life without him.
  4. How long have you listened to TJES? I have been a listener for 4 years.
  5. How did you discover TJES? I was listening to faction one day when TJES came on, I was hooked right away.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? I keep listening because Ellis is real. He’s some some fake wackity wack radio guy. Jason has always been open and honest about his life, his struggles, his triumphs and that is a big thing for me. I also keep listening because I love the #ellisfam
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? Through the show I met the #ellisfam. A great group of people that have always been there for me. I have had a lot of ups and downs or last 4 years and the fam has always been there for me. Recently I was going through some shit, I felt alone and started cutting. A couple of fam members reached out to me and saved me from myself. Even my own fraternity which I love hasn’t been there for me like the fam has.  There are a couple of people I will always be grateful for.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? I am really looking forward to meeting everyone at EM8 and putting on a good show the fans! Chin down hands up!

Julie Z (@Harachoka)

  1. Where do you live? Dallas, Texas
  2. What is your occupation? Admin assistant and just got appointed the Financial Committee head for my roller derby league(it is a full time job too!)
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. Well let’s see…… My name is Julie and I’m awesome. I’m 30 years old and living a good life. No babies and never been married. I love everybody and very easy going. I play roller derby so I do have a little competitive streak in me. I’m a middle child, have no sense of smell from a skate boarding accident, love snow boarding and love my family.
  4. How long have you listened to TJES? Geeeeez louise, let me think. I’m going to guess going on about 4 or so years now. It took me awhile to get onto Twitter and ellismania.  It was about a year or so ago, because I finally wanted to meet some of the names I’ve heard forever!
  5. How did you discover TJES? I started using Sirius radio when Howard came over in 2006. I originally listened to the punk station and then eventually started listening to Faction for the music. Eventually I started catching more and more of the show. Fell in love with them and started listening to the whole show.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? The characters I have grown to know and love. When I first started listening I loved how Jason would help a lot of his callers through hard times. My father passed away at a young age, so I felt his sincerity when he talked about his brother and father dying. I also have grown to love the Ellisfam and it’s many different characters.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? Well I’ve definitely made some good friends from the connection from the show. Over the years I think they’ve made me feel more comfortable in my own skin. I guess that’s part of getting older too, but their goofiness/brashness/kindness has made me feel easier about my own personality. I live life to the fullest and feel that’s what Jason says on a daily basis. I just love the show and feel like I’m hanging out with good friends.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? I got voted “Miss Congeniality” by my league last year! ;)

Alicia (@CiaraSunshine)

  1. Where do you live? Edmonton, Alberta
  2. What is your occupation? Waitress (reformed stripper)
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. I am 27. Engaged, Ex drug addict, beauty queen under dog
  4. How long have you listened to TJES? 3 hil-arious years
  5. How did you discover TJES? My ex lent me his car with satelite radio. He was always afraid I would cheese him out to Ellis for being an un accountable dick.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? Ellis is a motivator, Tully is soo funny and I have a soft spot for RawDog after EM7
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? Ellis has driven home the point of accountability and self respect. Through his everyday rants and great perspective on life. Plus training for EM7 got me hooked on boxing so my mind and body are more fit thanks to TJES
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? I might not be on twitter enough or make it to some of the meets but I will never miss Ellismania. I am getting married during this years event and cannot wait to solidify the relationships I made. Love #ellisfam

Thank you

Tara O’Blanc (@TaraIsSmiling)

A brief look into how all of you crazy motherfuckers came into my life and made me spend money to fly to Las Vegas, NV just to hug the fuck out of some of you….

  1. Where do you live? I live in the dirty, dirty South. Louisiana. Born and raised. The culture, the hospitality and the food keep me here. Moved once. Hated it. Came right back. Minus a husband. We’ll get to that.
  2. What is your occupation? I am the Sales Assistant for a company that manufactures and distributes water and wastewater treatment chemicals all over the state. I’ve been back here a year. Worked here a total of four. Love the people, love my job but I’d rather get paid to spend time with my kids, my man or party.
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. As above mentioned, I had once upon a time moved to Houston, TX with my ex-husband, he didn’t treat me very well to say the least, I wanted to come home and he didn’t want to follow. So with that I packed up myself, my kids and the few belongings I chose to keep and moved home, scared shitless and broken without a leg to stand on. During that time I had reached the lowest point of my life and made some extremely poor decisions. Drugs, alcohol, thoughts of ending it all. Completely lost.
  4. How did you discover TJES? On the way home from our first business conference, Shannon and I were listening to the show and I was cracking up laughing. I knew nothing of Jason or the show or Ellisfam. She gave me a brief rundown and history and shortly thereafter she convinced me to join Twitter to fill up my time at work because I was “working too fast”. So that’s what I did.
  5. How long have you listened to TJES? A year later, these incredible people that I’ve come to know have pulled me from the depths and helped save me more and more every day.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? Each of us have our own trials and tribulations and seeing some of the things that some of you have risen above, inspires me more and more to be the best version of myself.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? You have all taken me into the family with open, loving arms and sent me words of encouragement and strength daily. You guys have reached out to me when I felt like I had no one else in the world. Closer a family than my blood. For that I can never thank any of you enough. Hell, I even fell in love with one of you crazy ass people. I hope that I can be there for all of you the way you have been there for me.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? I don’t get to listen to the show as often as I would like but when I do…I laugh my ass off. I realize that we’re all the same. I look forward to spending next weekend in Vegas at EllisMania and I hope it’s only the beginning of years of annual debauchery for myself! See you fuckers there!
Much Love! Tara is INDEED smiling!
John Flath (@TwistedMetalFab)

  1. Where do you live? The Beautiful(?) Garden State New Jersey, near Philadelphia.
  2. What is your occupation? I am a welder/fabrication for Big Bill’s Truck Shop in Deptford NJ. I also own and run Twisted Metal Fabrications also in Deptford NJ. Where I build and repair race cars and race components.
  3. Tell me a little about yourself. I am a 40 year old divorced Dad of the most awesome 12 y/o daughter on the planet(biased opinion of course). I am a huge MMA (read  fanatic), Football,Hockey and Baseball fan. I have been a welder for over 25 years and have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University(Go Knights!). Until recently I ran my own business where I built not only race cars, but custom motorcycles, cars and trucks. Even the occasional hot rod cop car or 2 LOL. My work have been featured in magazines,TV,and a music video or 2. I am currently finishing a hand built motorcycle for a local charity to raffle off to raise funds for their efforts. That was the good, but with good comes bad. I was the victim of abuse and molestation by members of my family throughout my childhood. I spent 18 months in prison when I was 21 for tearing a guys ear off in a bar fight. I have been a drug abuser, and had a heroin and meth addiction . I have attempted suicide over 15 times. While most of these issues were in my youth,(I am clean for 15 years) I still deal with daily the residual effects of the wreckage that is my past.
  4. How long have you listened to TJES? For around 5 years now.
  5. How did you discover TJES? I bought a Dodge Ram that had Sirius in it, I loved the mix of music played on Faction. I would hear Ellis on tony Hawk’s show.
  6. What keeps you listening to TJES? First and foremost, its the fact anything can happen at anytime. Nothing is scheduled or scripted. Makes for real moments. I identify closely with the show crew on various levels.
  7. Has the show changed or impacted you life in any way? How? It has on several occasions. Its made me feel like I am not alone in dealing with issues. Its also taught me #HTFU is not just a slogan.
  8. Is there anything else you would like to share? #EllisFam, TRUE #EllisFam are the most amazing people on earth.
